Grant Description
Program Purpose Award Purpose: The purpose of 2023 QUEST Disaster Recovery DWGs is to enhance the public workforce systems ongoing efforts to empower Americas unemployed and underemployed workers through worker and business engagement, elevate equity, and connect jobseekers with high-quality jobs.
Activities to be performed: Employment and training activities will include career navigation services and occupational, on-the-job training and registered apprenticeships that lead to in-demand skills and credentials, such as commercial driver licenses, in the priority industry sectors. Supportive services including such as transportation, childcare, housing, tuition, and services to address participants identified needs will be provided by established partners. Strategic partnership activities with local elected officials, state workforce, correction, and education agencies, community, industry, and employer partners will ensure that each regions blend of supports and services addresses local participant and industry needs.
Community partner and potential participant outreach will be led by local workforce development board outreach teams and will cooperate with American Job Center partners to reach target populations and supportive service providers to support participants transitions into employment. Business engagement activities in collaboration with county mayors and chambers of commerce will focus on generating on-the-job training, apprenticeships, and post-training employment opportunities with employers offering good jobs.
Deliverables Expected Outcomes: 500 planned participants. Intended beneficiaries: Individuals from historically marginalized or underserved communities including individuals recovering from drug addiction, workers in rural communities, justice-involved individuals, and those with limited work history.
Subrecipient activities: Local workforce development boards. Indirect costs: $27,040.37.
