Grant Description
Program Purpose Award Purpose: The purpose of 2023 Quest Disaster Recovery DWGs is to enhance the public workforce systems ongoing efforts to empower Americas unemployed and underemployed workers through worker and business engagement, elevate equity, and connect jobseekers with high-quality jobs.
Activities to be performed: Employment and training activities will include comprehensive career and training services including adult education and literacy and job readiness training, occupational and on-the-job training, and registered apprenticeship. Supportive services such as childcare, transportation, housing, mental health support, and other allowable services will be provided as needed.
Strategic partnership activities will establish or expand public-private partnerships and engage businesses, employees, labor, and education and training institutions in adopting and deploying employment and training services to meet workforce needs. This grant will transform the system via worker-centered sector policies and public-private partnerships. KY Quest will continually recruit new partners through business outreach and education.
Community and potential participant outreach activities will include creating a targeted outreach effort with partners to reach historically underrepresented populations and participate in the Chamber of Commerce's workforce events.
Business engagement activities will use KY's unified business services framework that aligns workforce, education, and economic development strategies to attract, develop, and retain industries and businesses and strengthen the state's talent pipeline.
Deliverables Expected Outcomes: 1,280 planned participants.
Intended beneficiaries: Individuals from historically marginalized or underserved communities including workers with limited work histories, legal issues and justice involvement, long-term unemployed status, barriers to employment in essential industries, and individuals from rural communities.
Subrecipient activities: Local workforce development boards
Indirect costs: $135,700.00
