Grant Description
Program Purpose Award Purpose: The purpose of 2023 QUEST Disaster Recovery DWGs is to enhance the public workforce systems ongoing efforts to empower Americas unemployed and underemployed workers through worker and business engagement, elevate equity, and connect jobseekers with high-quality jobs.
Activities to be performed: Employment and training activities including job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, and short-term vocational skills training and credentialing to ensure that participants gain the necessary skills, knowledge, and experience to qualify for and succeed in good jobs will be provided. Disaster relief employment positions in behavioral health and general health services, schools, and daycare center workers will be created. Strategic partnership activities will build on existing collaborations with state and local-level sector partners, intermediaries, and service providers.
Community and potential participant outreach activities will include engaging local partners to conduct outreach to targeted participant populations and increase referrals and program enrollments. Business engagement activities will leverage the foundation laid by the states current QUEST DWG grant and use existing business engagement strategies and sector partnerships and intermediaries to identify business needs and convey the value of improving equity and job quality.
Deliverables Expected Outcomes: 576 planned participants.
Intended beneficiaries: Individuals from historically marginalized or underserved communities including long term unemployed workers, persons with disabilities, justice-involved individuals, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and public assistance recipients, and older workers.
Subrecipient activities: Local workforce development boards.
Indirect costs: $139,132.00.
