Grant Description
Program Purpose Award Purpose: The purpose of 2023 QUEST Disaster Recovery DWGs is to enhance the public workforce systems ongoing efforts to empower Americas unemployed and underemployed workers through worker and business engagement, elevate equity, and connect jobseekers with high-quality jobs.
Proposed Participant Activities: Employment and training activities will be customized based on participants assessment results and individualized plans and may include job search assistance, job development and placement, financial literacy skills training, pre-apprenticeship, classroom and on-the-job training. Supportive services to ensure the successful attainment of training goals and transition into full-time employment will be offered and may include childcare, transportation, food, housing, and mental health support.
Proposed Project Activities: Strategic partnerships with essential state agencies, such as the Departments of Social Services, Commerce, and Education, industry groups, and labor unions will be maximized to stimulate Missouris economic growth by expanding access to good jobs with high road employers. Community and participant outreach will be conducted by project operators and partners such as the Urban League, higher education providers, and community-based organizations with the relevant cultural and language competencies to reach target communities. Business engagement activities will center on engaging businesses with good jobs and on-the-job training opportunities through key employer groups, such as chambers of commerce, employer associations, economic development, labor unions, and individual employers.
Deliverables and Expected Outcomes: 450 planned participants. Priority participant population: Individuals from historically marginalized or underserved communities including individuals without a postsecondary credential, workers who identify as BLACK, AFRICAN AMERICAN, HISPANIC, and LATINO, and residents of rural areas.
Subrecipients: Local Workforce Development Boards.
