Grant Description
This award funds the approved 2022-23 Public Health AmeriCorps Program. No member may enroll prior to the approved start date of the member enrollment period. Your 2022-23 regulatory match is 0%.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health proposes to have 80 AmeriCorps members who will engage in community outreach, health education, resource sharing, and communicable disease investigation in the most highly impacted communities located within Los Angeles County.
At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for improved health outcomes around COVID-19 and non-COVID related health conditions among vulnerable populations. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage 20 recruited volunteers through the Community Ambassador Program who will be engaged in serving as community spokespersons around COVID, COVID-related resources, and health education topics to amplify these messages within the hardest hit communities.
After their year of service, at least 50 AmeriCorps members will pursue future engagement in the public health sector.
