L.A. Works proposes to have 90 Public Health AmeriCorps members who will provide direct service through the provision of social services to local communities, build organizational capacity, recruit and manage volunteers, and engage in outreach for COVID-19 response and recovery efforts at organizations and agencies with programming for underserved populations in the Southern California region.

At the end of the first program year, AmeriCorps members at 10 host sites will be responsible for serving 50,000 individuals. This will include directly serving 10,000 individuals with increased health knowledge, 10,000 individuals with improved health, and 10,000 individuals with improved access to medical care. Additionally, they will build the capacity of 10 organizations by conducting needs assessments and then developing policies and procedures for volunteer infrastructure programming, community engagement planning, as well as grant writing to scale the organization's direct service.

AmeriCorps members will leverage 500 volunteers who will be engaged in COVID-19 and pandemic information outreach, vaccine clinic outreach, and outreach for social services and healthcare accessibility. After their year of service, 25 AmeriCorps members will pursue future engagement in the public health sector.
