Grant Description
This award funds the approved 2022-23 Public Health AmeriCorps programs, as listed on the approved program and funding summary charts. No member may enroll prior to the approved start date of the member enrollment period. Your 2022-23 regulatory match is 0%.

The One World Link (OWL) proposes to have 31 AmeriCorps members who will provide community health outreach and support, as well as recruit, train, and develop a new generation of public health leaders who are ready to respond to the health needs. There will be a special emphasis on those who have historically not had access to public health in the central Georgia footprint of Bibb, Baldwin, Hancock, Houston, Jones, and Peach counties. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for at least 75% (750) of those served with increased health knowledge. Additionally, two public health organizations will increase program reach by 10%, and two public health organizations will have improved organizational efficiency by 10%. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage 100 volunteers who will be engaged in outreach and education after their year of service. Thirty-one AmeriCorps members will pursue future engagement in the public health sector.

The DeKalb County Board of Health (DCBOH) proposes to have 16 AmeriCorps members who will work with the DCBOH's leaders to learn how to manage and operate several programs housed in one of four locations in DeKalb County, Georgia. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will learn about public health issues through training, onsite experiences, and other means. Secondly, they will help meet communities' public health needs by providing capacity, support, and increased awareness of COVID-19 testing and vaccinations. Thirdly, they will advance more equitable health outcomes for underserved communities. Lastly, they will help communities respond to and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. The members will reflect the communities in which they will serve. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage 0 volunteers who will be engaged in no activities. After their year of service, 16 AmeriCorps members will pursue future engagement in the public health sector.
