Grant Description
This award funds the approved 2022-23 Public Health AmeriCorps program, as listed on the approved program and funding summary charts. No member may enroll prior to the approved start date of the member enrollment period. Your 2022-23 regulatory match is 0%.
The Gem State Public Health Program, at the Institute of Rural Health (IRH) at Idaho State University (ISU), proposes to have 72 AmeriCorps members who will aim to increase the capacity of and for:
1) Public health services offered to communities through collaboration and partnerships, and
2) The number of suicide prevention intervention trainings offered, while
3) Helping members learn more about public health careers.
At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for expanding and enhancing community partnerships in an effort to increase services offered and to increase the number of individuals trained as suicide prevention intervention gatekeepers. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage approximately 144 volunteers who will be engaged in learning and applying suicide prevention interventions in their local communities.
After their year of service, 54 AmeriCorps members will pursue future engagement in the public health sector.
