Grant Description
This award funds the approved 2022-23 Public Health AmeriCorps programs, as listed on the approved program and funding summary charts. No member may enroll prior to the approved start date of the member enrollment period. Your 2022-23 regulatory match is 0%.
The Kentucky Health Departments Association, Inc. (KHDA) proposes to have 75 AmeriCorps members who will serve as Community Health Workers (CHWs) in local health departments in communities across Kentucky in core public health programs, including HANDS, WIC, and harm reduction. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be fully trained as CHWs with experience working in HANDS, WIC, and/or harm reduction. After their year in service, approximately 50 AmeriCorps members will pursue future engagement in the public health sector.
Family Scholar House proposes to have 200 AmeriCorps members who will provide healthcare support to seniors and disabled individuals in a maximum of 50 healthcare facilities. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for developing their healthcare knowledge and completing credentialing coursework enabling them to work in memory care, skilled nursing, assisted living, and other healthcare-related environments and providing concurrent services for a minimum of 2000 patients. After their year of service, 175 AmeriCorps members will pursue future engagement in the public health sector. A total of $2,825,124 is being requested from CNCS to fund this program.
