Grant Description
The Conservation Legacy proposes to have 817 AmeriCorps members who will improve trails and waterways, improve degraded habitat and unhealthy forests, provide disaster response services, train young Americans in natural resource stewardship practices, and increase our nation's resilience to climate impacts in AZ, CO, NM, WV, VA, NC, and TN.
At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for improving 16,058 acres of land, improving 2,545 miles of trails or rivers, and providing disaster assistance to 400 individuals. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage 300 volunteers who will be engaged in service days on public lands and parks.
This program will focus on the CNCS focus areas of environmental stewardship and disaster response. The CNCS investment of $2,470,425.00 will be matched with $13,348,571.43, $12,013,714.29 in public funding, and $1,334,857.14 in private funding.
