Grant Description
Reading Partners proposes to have 254 AmeriCorps members who will manage the volunteer recruitment for and day-to-day operations of our one-on-one literacy tutoring program for economically disadvantaged students at 165 Title I elementary schools in 8 regions. These regions include Baltimore, New York, South Carolina, Washington DC, Tulsa, Seattle, Twin Cities, and Colorado.
At the end of the program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for measurably increasing the literacy skills of at least 4,183 high-need target students. Additionally, the AmeriCorps members will leverage 10,000 volunteers who will be engaged in individualized reading tutoring through our model.
This program will focus on the CNCS focus area of education. The CNCS investment of $3,931,666 will be matched with $4,941,834, $2,227,500 in public funding and $2,714,334 in private funding.
