Grant Description
The Playworks National Direct AmeriCorps Program proposes to have 90 full-time AmeriCorps members who will provide an evidence-based program utilizing play to create school environments with reduced bullying where students feel safe, supported, and engaged in low-income schools in the metro areas of Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Durham, NC; Indianapolis, IN; Buffalo, Rochester, and New York, NY; Newark, NJ; Philadelphia, PA; Portland, OR; Vancouver, WA; Baltimore, MD; and Washington DC.

At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for increasing students' social and emotional skills, reducing bullying, and creating positive school climates. In addition, AmeriCorps members will leverage 500 volunteers who will be engaged in assisting with components of the Playworks AmeriCorps program and community events.

The program will focus on the CNCS focus area of education. The CNCS investment of $1,297,080 will be matched with $3,261,971, $2,614,500 in public funding and $647,471 in private funding.
