Overview
Grant Description
Purpose: The purpose of this grant is to implement the Kansas Digital Equity Plan developed pursuant to the State Digital Equity Planning Grant Program.
Activities to be performed: The proposed project activities include: create a Digital Navigator Expansion Grant Program designed to identify and assess digital navigation programs and navigators committing to beginning or expanding their digital navigation offerings;
build a strong network of device distribution programs that serve the entire state;
create a pool of funds comprised of both public and private sources to fund a long-term affordability program for Kansas;
collaborate with partners to create an online Digital Equity Map and Dashboard that will help the agency, organizations, and the public to understand progress in closing the digital literacy skills gap.
Expected outcomes: The proposed projects will result in: increased access and visibility to broadband technology;
enhanced digital literacy skills among Kansas covered populations;
enabling individuals with disabilities to access educational resources, employment opportunities, improved healthcare access, and social networks thereby enhancing their autonomy and overall quality of life;
improved digital literacy among the aging and veteran populations to facilitate greater access to online healthcare services, telemedicine consultations, and health information resources.
Intended beneficiaries: Residents of the state of Kansas and principally unserved and underserved covered populations statewide.
Subrecipient activities: The recipient does plan to subaward funds. The purpose is for implementing the DE Plan activities.
