Grant Description
Equipment and facilities enhancement in FANH' to support USDA's 2020-2026 strategic plan goal number 5 expand opportunities for economic development and improve quality of life in rural and tribal communities. AAMU's College of Agricultural Life and Natural Sciences and the 1890 Cooperative Extension Division comprehensively cover food, agriculture, natural resource, and human science (FANH).
The facilities grant has two goals. Goal 1) Expand research, teaching, and extension capabilities through facility construction and renovation as identified under the six objectives: 1) Construct and renovate facilities that support research, extension, and enhance BS and MS/Ph.D. degree programs in biological and environmental sciences, food and animal sciences, community and regional planning, and family and consumer science; 2) Construct a primary care veterinary clinic (PCVC) 3) Renovate the greenhouse complex; 4) Renovate Agribition Center; 5) Construct a vehicle storage shed for extension fleet of vehicles, 6) Construct a community enrichment complex.
Goal 2: Acquire state-of-the-art equipment identified under four objectives: 1) Acquire equipment to advance research and teaching in biological and environmental sciences; 2) Enhance instruction and research in food and animal science; Objective 3) Improve instruction and research in community and regional planning and family and consumer sciences, and 4) Enhance equipment resources improve the quality of programming offered to underserved and minority communities with emphasis on natural resources, human nutrition, and 4-H programming.
