Overview
Grant Description
The objective of this project to be funded by the USDA/NIFA 1890 Facility Grant Program for fiscal year 2023 through 2027 is to renovate, expand and modernize the Agricultural Science Building (Alva Tabor) to become a much-needed state-of-the-art facility.
This facility will house instructional programs in agriculture education, animal science, agricultural economics, and plant sciences. The renovated facility will be improved with the addition of classrooms, a renovated lecture hall, teaching and research laboratories, offices, student study lounge, computer laboratory, workshop/polyvalent rooms for extension activities, and related support areas.
The renovated 1954 building will provide a more welcoming, appealing, and relaxing environment for an easier transition from high school to college life for today's undergraduate and graduate students after completion. The remodeled building will also house, under the same roof, faculty and administrative offices for the three areas (extension, teaching and research).
The project funds will support 60% teaching, 20% research and 20% extension in the College of Agriculture, Family Sciences and Technology (CAFST). Instruction infrastructure is a high priority for the university as stated in the 2020-2025 University Strategic Plan under Priority 1 and Priority 7.
