Overview

Grant Description
Purpose: The purpose of this grant is to implement the Iowa Digital Equity Plan developed pursuant to the State Digital Equity Planning Grant Program.

Activities to be performed: The proposed project activities include: creation of a device ecosystem, establishing a network of digital navigators, expand the Wi-Fi hotspot checkout program, develop a virtual training platform to provide cybersecurity training, fund a program that will help incarcerated individuals access educational opportunities including digital skills and cybersecurity training.

Expected outcomes: The proposed projects will result in: increased access to Wi-Fi for covered populations, increased participation in educational programs for incarcerated individuals, increased digital literacy and cybersecurity skills for covered populations, increased access to devices.

Intended beneficiaries: Residents of the State of Iowa and principally unserved and underserved covered populations statewide.

Subrecipient activities: The recipient does not plan to subaward funds.
Funding Goals
TO PROVIDE FUNDS TO STATES AND U.S. TERRITORIES TO IMPLEMENT THE STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLANS DEVELOPED PURSUANT TO THE STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLANNING GRANT PROGRAM. THE STATE DIGITAL EQUITY CAPACITY GRANT PROGRAM NOFO ALSO ESTABLISHES A COMPETITIVE PROGRAM TO MAKE BOTH STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLANNING GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS AND STATE DIGITAL EQUITY CAPACITY GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS AVAILABLE TO NATIVE ENTITIES TO CARRY OUT DIGITAL EQUITY AND INCLUSION ACTIVITIES CONSISTENT WITH THE DIGITAL EQUITY ACT.
