Grant Description
This AmeriCorps VISTA project concept paper involves multiple organizations in several communities across the state of Idaho. As a collaborative effort, the "Better Futures for Idaho Youth" project, hereafter referred to as "Better Futures," will encompass roles alleviating poverty through:

A) Literacy programs
B) STEM programs
C) College preparation initiatives
D) Community awareness
E) Resources for nonprofits.

The literacy tasks will revolve around early childhood education and 3rd grade reading. STEM programs will focus on impoverished youth and those in rural areas. College preparation initiatives will be centered in rural areas and with regards to vulnerable populations. Awareness campaigns will focus on homeless program awareness through volunteer training. Resources will be made available to nonprofits by promoting and researching need. Those organizations with outreach efforts often include substance abuse prevention.
