Overview
Grant Description
Under this award, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services requests funds to: 1) improve reporting of juvenile mental health records to NICS from NYS hospitals and behavioral health clinics. A sub-award with the DOH/HRI, the funds will support the following activities:
1) Enhance the DOH NICS reporting system through updates to their three modes of reporting.
2) Design and implement quality control and assurance processes for juvenile mental health records reported by hospitals to NICS.
3) Assist hospitals to implement technical and operational changes to comply with the reporting requirements.
4) Enabling the DOH to be the POC for NICS.
2) Criminal disposition error management dashboard system. A sub-award with OCA to conduct the following:
1) Analyze, develop, test, and implement the new OCA error management dashboard system.
2) Analyze, develop, test, and implement the MCDV automatic calculation updates for dating relationships.

THIS PROGRAM FURTHERS THE DOJ'S MISSION TO REDUCE VIOLENT CRIME AND ADDRESS GUN VIOLENCE BY IMPROVING THE ACCURACY, UTILITY, AND INTERSTATE ACCESSIBILITY OF CRIMINAL-HISTORY AND RELATED RECORDS IN SUPPORT OF NATIONAL RECORD SYSTEMS AND THEIR USE FOR NAME- AND FINGERPRINT-BASED CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECKS. THIS PROGRAM WAS DEVELOPED TO IMPLEMENT TITLE III, DIVISION B (3) - APPROPRIATIONS OUTLINED IN THE BIPARTISAN SAFER COMMUNITIES ACT (PUB. L. 117-159).
