Grant Description
Under this award, the Illinois Administrative Office of the Courts proposes establishing statewide and systemwide processes in each of the 102 counties in Illinois. The project aims to ensure NICS receipt of all criminal history disposition data and mental health records and establish a robust collection, reporting, and accountability system to flag and promptly remedy incomplete disposition records.

Through this work, Illinois will be better equipped to ensure that all individuals deemed ineligible to purchase or possess firearms due to qualifying criminal convictions, domestic violence, or mental health events are prohibited from doing so.
Funding Goals
THIS PROGRAM FURTHERS THE DOJ'S MISSION TO REDUCE VIOLENT CRIME AND ADDRESS GUN VIOLENCE BY IMPROVING THE ACCURACY, UTILITY, AND INTERSTATE ACCESSIBILITY OF CRIMINAL-HISTORY AND RELATED RECORDS IN SUPPORT OF NATIONAL RECORD SYSTEMS AND THEIR USE FOR NAME- AND FINGERPRINT-BASED CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECKS. THIS PROGRAM WAS DEVELOPED TO IMPLEMENT TITLE III, DIVISION B (3) - APPROPRIATIONS OUTLINED IN THE BIPARTISAN SAFER COMMUNITIES ACT (PUB. L. 117-159).
