Grant Description
The Richmond County Treatment Court Substance Abuse Driving Under the Influence Treatment Program is seeking federal grant funds under the Bureau of Justice Assistance FY2024 Adult Treatment Court Program to enhance their program.
This program is a pre- and post-adjudication program for individuals charged with a driving under the influence offense.
The court aims to enhance its substance use disorder treatment services for nonviolent offenders.
The enhancements include expanding substance abuse counseling sessions to weekends, increasing the frequency of lab testing (including weekends), and bolstering community policing supervision.
Additionally, the program plans to offer job readiness training, housing and childcare assistance, and wellness services to support mental health.

THE ADULT TREATMENT COURT PROGRAM OFFERS FUNDING TO LOCAL, STATE, AND TRIBAL GOVERNMENTS TO PLAN, IMPLEMENT, AND ENHANCE THE OPERATIONS OF AN ADULT TREATMENT COURT THAT EFFECTIVELY INTEGRATES EVIDENCE-BASED SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER TREATMENT, MANDATORY DRUG TESTING, INCENTIVES AND SANCTIONS, AND TRANSITIONAL SERVICES IN JUDICIALLY SUPERVISED CRIMINAL COURT SETTINGS THAT HAVE JURISDICTION OVER INDIVIDUALS WITH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH NEEDS. ELIGIBLE ADULT TREATMENT COURT TYPES INCLUDE, ADULT DRUG COURTS (ADCS), DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED (DWI)/DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE (DUI) COURTS, CO-OCCURRING COURTS (PARTICIPANTS DIAGNOSED WITH BOTH SUBSTANCE USE AND MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS), AND TRIBAL HEALING TO WELLNESS COURTS (THWCS) ARE ELIGIBLE. APPLICANTS SHOULD REFER TO THEIR RELEVANT LOCAL STATUTES FOR DEFINITIONS OF THE LEGAL AGE OF AN "ADULT." THIS SOLICITATION WILL SEEK APPLICATIONS IN THREE CATEGORIES: CATEGORY 1: PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION; CATEGORY 2: ENHANCEMENT; CATEGORY 3: STATEWIDE.
