Project Grant

Overview

Grant Description
The Nassau County Police Department Training Village will support the Nassau County Police Department's ongoing efforts to prepare its police officers for evolving community policing standards, sensitivity training, de-escalation techniques, and mobile mental health intervention practices.

Training Village will provide expanded opportunities for multi-jurisdictional training, ensuring a cogent and coordinated response to events and our first responders will be better prepared for the evolving educational and training needs in policing in the years ahead.

The Training Village will be furnished with innovative technology and equipment allowing these training scenarios to unfold and be viewable, in real time, from a training classroom.

In this classroom those carrying out the training exercise can be evaluated, live, by supervisors, instructors and/or their peers as the training scenario progresses.

Upon completion of a training exercise the police officers will return to the classroom where their performance exercise can be evaluated and/or critiqued.

Innovative technology and equipment such as cameras, audio visual equipment, computers, telecom equipment, radio motor patrol vehicles, license plate readers, portable radios and virtual training equipment will all be used in support of the training exercise.
