Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
The proposed project purpose is to fill two critical training gaps for criminal justice system agencies.
There is growing demand for individuals with crime and intelligence analysis skills, but training opportunities are limited.
Sam Houston State University (SHSU) has been successfully delivering crime analysis courses and will deliver courses for the proposed project.
There is also a pressing demand for high-quality de-escalation training for front-line police personnel.
Emerging research evidence from multiple cities demonstrates that de-escalation training can have positive effects on police officers' perceptions and behaviors, but training opportunities are limited.
This project will expand training delivery and reach agencies with limited training budgets.
