Grant Description
The Pima County Sheriff's Department (PCSD) will utilize funds to replace its existing inventory of law enforcement handheld radios.
The PCSD Wireless Integrated Network Radio System inventory (purchased from Motorola between 2009 and 2012) is no longer serviceable due to its end-of-life cycle, as of September 2023.
The PCSD Wireless Integrated Network Project plans included replacing approximately 1,350 radios to equip commissioned and correctional personnel.
This funding supports a significant portion of costs towards upgrading an essential asset class that supports PCSD in maintaining its public safety mission requirements through timely communication and emergency response.

BJA IS AUTHORIZED TO DISTRIBUTE FUNDS TO SUPPORT PROJECTS DESIGNATED FOR FUNDING IN THE CONSOLIDATED APPROPRIATIONS ACT, 2024 THAT IMPROVE THE FUNCTIONING OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, PREVENT OR COMBAT JUVENILE DELINQUENCY, AND ASSIST VICTIMS OF CRIME (OTHER THAN COMPENSATION).
