Overview
Grant Description
The Northern Ohio Violent Crime Consortium (NOVCC) 2022 PSN strategy is guided by data-driven decision making, collaboration, and implementation of evidence-based practices. All four PSN design features (community engagement, prevention and intervention, focused and strategic enforcement, and accountability) are included in the NOVCC strategy to varying degrees, with focused and strategic enforcement included in all eight cities.
In response to these issues and challenges, the NOVCC will use a range of targeted responses to create safer communities. In addition, NOVCC will continue to operate the Regional Crime Analysis Task Force (CATF), working collaboratively to produce a comprehensive picture of crime incidents through data-sharing, in-depth crime analysis, pattern identification, incident mapping, and emerging crime trend recognition in order to reduce and respond to gang, gun, and other violent crime.
The eight NOVCC cities (Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Elyria, Lorain, Mansfield, Toledo, and Youngstown) will be the geographical focus of the PSN strategy, supported by federal and state law enforcement and a variety of local government and non-profit agencies in each community. Grant funds will be used to implement evidence-based violence reduction demonstration projects, support CATF activities, oversee fiscal management and reporting, and collect data and evaluate NOVCC PSN activities.

Funding Goals
PROJECT SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS (PSN) IS DESIGNED TO CREATE AND FOSTER SAFER NEIGHBORHOODS THROUGH A SUSTAINED REDUCTION IN VIOLENT CRIME. THE PROGRAM'S EFFECTIVENESS DEPENDS UPON THE ONGOING COORDINATION, COOPERATION, AND PARTNERSHIPS OF LOCAL, STATE, TRIBAL, AND FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES WORKING TOGETHER WITH THE COMMUNITIES THEY SERVE AND ENGAGED IN A UNIFIED APPROACH LED BY THE U.S. ATTORNEY IN ALL 94 DISTRICTS. WITH PSN, EACH U.S. ATTORNEY'S OFFICE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ESTABLISHING A COLLABORATIVE TEAM OF FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL, AND TRIBAL (WHERE APPLICABLE) LAW ENFORCEMENT AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO IMPLEMENT A STRATEGIC PLAN FOR INVESTIGATING, PROSECUTING, AND PREVENTING VIOLENT CRIME.
