Overview

Grant Description
Through FY23 CPD funding, the Virginia Center for Policing Innovation will provide continuous support, monitoring, and maintenance of the COPS training portal to support the delivery of COPS Office training resources.

The second objective is to expand the user base and awareness of the COPS training portal through a robust and targeted marketing effort, combined with outreach to and agreements with agencies and Peace Officer Standards and Training Boards.

The third objective is to enhance the COPS training portal through the deployment of new features and infrastructure, including but not limited to Moodle Workplace and training coordinator-type roles.

The fourth objective is to develop a new course in partnership with the Community Relations Service.
Funding Goals
THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES (COPS OFFICE, HTTPS://COPS.USDOJ.GOV) IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT IT IS SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING FOR THE FY23 COMMUNITY POLICING DEVELOPMENT (CPD) PROGRAM. CPD FUNDS ARE USED TO DEVELOP THE CAPACITY OF LAW ENFORCEMENT TO IMPLEMENT COMMUNITY POLICING STRATEGIES BY PROVIDING GUIDANCE ON PROMISING PRACTICES THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING OF INNOVATIVE STRATEGIES; BUILDING KNOWLEDGE ABOUT EFFECTIVE PRACTICES AND OUTCOMES; AND SUPPORTING NEW, CREATIVE APPROACHES TO PREVENTING CRIME AND PROMOTING SAFE COMMUNITIES. THE COPS OFFICE WELCOMES APPLICATIONS UNDER WHICH TWO OR MORE ENTITIES WOULD CARRY OUT THE FEDERAL AWARD; HOWEVER, ONLY ONE ENTITY MAY BE THE APPLICANT. ANY OTHER ENTITIES CARRYING OUT THE FEDERAL AWARD MUST BE IDENTIFIED AS PROPOSED SUBRECIPIENTS. THE APPLICANT MUST BE THE ENTITY THAT WOULD HAVE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY FOR CARRYING OUT THE AWARDS, INCLUDING ADMINISTERING THE FUNDING AND MANAGING THE ENTIRE PROJECT. THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE FEDERAL AWARD ARE ALSO APPLICABLE TO SUBRECIPIENTS. ALL AWARDS ARE SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF APPROPRIATED FUNDS AND ANY MODIFICATIONS OR ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS THAT MAY BE IMPOSED BY LAW.
