Grant Description
This EDA amendment supports the University of Guam with constructing two educational and research buildings at the Scientific Education and Research Facilities in Mangilao, Guam, a designated Opportunity Zone. The project will assist the region with recovery efforts from the Typhoon Mangkhut disaster.
The new lab will increase the ability of the University’s Water and Environmental Research Institute to monitor the health of Guam’s aquifer which provides fresh water for commercial and residential use throughout the island. The second building will provide instructional space for the University’s School of Nursing and facilitate training of more nurses to address a shortage of healthcare workers throughout the region. Once completed, the project will promote resiliency and strengthen the regional economy.
