Description: This award is the result of a novation from South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) to South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) based on the restructuring letter dated June 19, 2024.

This action awards $207,207.57 of the originally obligated federal amount and $111,911.95 recipient match.

Activities: The recipient will use the funds to conduct remedial action at the Brewer Gold Mine Superfund Site, which is listed on the National Priorities List (NPL) of the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Contingency Plan.

The activities to be performed include site-specific project management, contracting, and direct oversight of the remedial design (RD) and remedial action (RA) work, and activities through state selected contractor(s) in lieu of EPA using federal contractor(s).

Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.

Outcomes: As a result of this agreement, the state will have the ability to oversee and manage the remedial design (RD) and remedial action (RA) projects directly.

The deliverables will include reports for remedial design and remedial action activities.

The residents of South Carolina will be the direct beneficiaries of this cooperative agreement.
