The investment will construct wastewater treatment plant and spray field improvements which will support economic resiliency in Hampton County, South Carolina. The improvements will support the expansion of a company and also sustain business operations in the event of severe weather events by creating resiliency in the public infrastructure. It will also provide opportunities to diversify the regional economy through location and expansion of industry in the project area.

This project was funded through EDA's CARES Act appropriation. The grantee estimates this project will create 30 jobs and generate private investment of $15 million. This project was made possible by the regional planning efforts led by the Lowcountry Economic Development District. Lowcountry Economic Development District is funded by EDA to bring together the public and private sectors to create an economic development roadmap to strengthen the regional economy, support private capital investment, and create jobs.
