Grant Description
Description: This action provides funding in the amount of $48,763,746 to the Georgia Ports Authority.
The funding is designated to support the enhancement of air quality and mitigate pollution at the Port of Savannah, the Port of Brunswick, and their surrounding areas, as part of the Inflation Reduction Act.
This will be achieved through the implementation of zero emission equipment and infrastructure at the ports.
Activities: The activities include the purchase and deployment of zero emission equipment, technologies, and related infrastructure, as well as workforce development.
Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables include the purchase and installation of vessel shore power infrastructure at four locations and the purchase of 16 zero emission port terminal tractors, 18 175 kW fast charging systems, and three pad mounted transformers, pad mounted switchgear, and additional switchgear.
The expected outcomes include reduced carbon dioxide, particulate matter 2.5, sulfur oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxide emissions, decreased fuel consumption, and the delivery of new skills and capabilities to the workforce.
The intended beneficiaries include the Georgia Ports Authority (Grantee), TICO (Partner), which will provide port terminal tractors and associated terminal operating equipment and services, and Georgia Power (Utility Partner), which will ensure electricity demand needs are met.
Indirect beneficiaries include nearby port communities, which will experience improved air quality.
