Grant Description
Description: This action approves an award in the amount of $5,000,000 to the City of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
This agreement provides funding to the recipient to implement its project of providing transmission of treated drinking water from a new water treatment plant to existing four-million-gallon and three-million-gallon reservoirs located at the site of the current city water treatment plant as directed in the 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act or as identified in an approved technical correction, if one has been approved for this project.
Activities: The activities to be performed include the execution and implementation of a drinking water infrastructure construction project.
Workplan activities consist of the construction of a new water transmission main, which will be constructed of approximately 153 linear feet of 36-inch ductile iron pipe (DIP) and approximately 10,036 linear feet of 30-inch ductile iron pipe.
A bore will be performed under an existing roadway at Bear Creek Road, and additional installations will include 1,930 feet of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sewer main to connect the new water treatment plant to the existing wastewater collection system, and 4,420 feet of 2-inch by 3-inch fiber optic conduit.
Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables include a new water transmission main and the expected outcomes include a reduction in the amount of water necessary to pump, and a reduction in water loss.
Expected outcomes also include reduced electricity usage, reduced carbon emissions, and reduced chemical usage.
