Grant Description
Description: The agreement provides funding under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to Washington Department of Ecology to replace in-use, non-zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles with new zero-emission vehicles to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in EPA Region 10.
The recipient will replace 13 eligible vehicles with comparable, eligible zero-emission vehicles under the school bus sub-program, resulting in cleaner air and improved health for the communities in Kitsap, King, Thurston, and Snohomish counties in Washington State.
Activities: The activities include replacing eligible internal combustion engine Class 6 and Class 7 vehicles with eligible zero-emission vehicles.
Subrecipient: The following school districts will replace ICE buses for ZE buses: Olympia will replace, Central Kitsap will replace 4, Bellevue will replace 1, and Everett will replace 3.
Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables include: replacing 13 Class 6/Class 7 diesel school buses in 4 school districts.
The expected outcomes include: approximate reductions per year*: 167.42 short tons CO2, 0.86 short tons NOx, 0.05 short tons PM2.5, 0.41 short tons CO, short tons HC, TBD # of school children transported on ZE buses rather than diesel buses.
The intended beneficiaries include: students riding buses, school bus drivers, and the neighboring near-road communities.
