Grant Description
Description: This agreement provides funding under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to Walla Walla Public Schools.
This agreement is to replace existing school buses with clean and zero emission (ZE) school buses.
Activities: The activities include replacing 15 diesel buses with zero-emission electric school buses and 8 DC fast chargers.
The new school buses will serve Walla Walla Public School District.
Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables include 1) 15 zero emission electric buses replace 15 diesel school buses, 2) existing infrastructure expanded with 8 additional Level III DC fast chargers and upgrades to electrical panel, and 3) 15 trainings provided to transportation staff, bus drivers, maintenance technicians, facilities staff, and first responders.
The expected outcomes include 400 vulnerable children will be exposed to fewer diesel exhaust emissions on their school commute, increased regional capacity for small school districts to operate and maintain electric buses, and increased public awareness of project results and understanding of the environmental and economic benefits of zero emissions electric buses.
The intended beneficiaries include 400 school children, communities surrounding the school, and school district staff.
