Grant Description
Description: This agreement provides funding to the San Antonio Water System's generators for critical infrastructure protection project to purchase backup generators for the 34th Street Water Booster Pump Station to ensure the ability to provide potable water service to its customers during an extended power outage in a disaster or emergency.
This funding was appropriated in the 'FY2022 Consolidated Appropriations Act' (P.L. 117-103), 'FY2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act' (P.L. 117-328), and 'FY2024 Consolidated Appropriations Act' (P.L. 118-42).
This proposed project complies with Pillar 1 - Clean Air, Water and Land under EPA's Powering the Great American Comeback Initiative.
Activities: The activities to be performed include the execution and implementation of a wastewater infrastructure construction project.
Workplan activities consist of:
- Planning and design work which includes: inspections, permits, etc.
- Procurement of a generator
- Procurement of switchgear
Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables and expected outcomes include:
- Construction installation package advertisement: September 2025
- Solicitation for the generator system at 34th Street Pump Station: September 2025 - December 2025
- Board award for generator system at 34th Street Pump Station: December 2025
- Procuring, installing, start-up and commissioning of generator system at 34th Street Pump Station: December 2025 - June 2028
- Site mobilization: January 2026
- Startup and commissioning: June 2028
The intended beneficiaries include approximately 24,000 residents in San Antonio, Texas receiving potable water services from San Antonio Water Systems in the case of a disaster or emergency.
