Grant Description
Description: This agreement provides funding to the Lafayette (LA) Consolidated Government to implement its project to upgrade existing gravity sewer infrastructure in the downtown and south areas of the City of Lafayette as directed in the 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act or as identified in an approved technical correction if one has been approved for this project.
Activities: The activities to be performed are the construction of a new collector/interceptor pump station near the downtown area, upgrade existing gravity sewer lines to increase pipe sizes to better deliver flows to the pump station, eliminate exiting bottlenecks and restrictions in the gravity sewer system, and construction of a new 24-inch force main from this new pump station to the south sewage treatment plant site.
Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables are the construction of a new collector/interceptor pump station near the downtown area, upgrade existing gravity sewer lines to increase pipe sizes to better deliver flows to the pump station, eliminate exiting bottlenecks and restrictions in the gravity sewer system, and construction of a new 24-inch force main from this new pump station to the south sewage treatment plant site, which are expected to lead to elimination of several package sewage treatment plants and to better handle instances of inflow/infiltration to prevent instances of sewer system overflows for the citizens of the City of Lafayette, Louisiana and over 3,000 downtown service connections.
