Grant Description
Description: This agreement provides funding under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to Highland CSB1, LLC.

This agreement is to replace existing school buses with clean and zero emission (ZE) school buses.

Activities: The activities include replacing ninety-one (91) existing diesel emission with ninety-one (91) clean, zero emission school buses.

The new school buses will serve the following school districts in Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana: Cache Public Schools (OK), Canutillo ISD (TX), Del Valle ISD (TX), Longview ISD (TX), San Marcos CISD (TX), Santa Maria ISD (TX), Warren Easton Charter School (LA), Wilson Charter School (LA), Pierre A. Capdau Charter School (LA), Eleanor McMain Secondary School (LA), McDonogh 35 Senior High School (LA).

Subrecipient: Highland CSB1, LLC Texas and Oklahoma school districts, Cache Public Schools (OK - six (6) buses), Canutillo ISD (TX - four (4) buses), Del Valle ISD (TX - twenty (20) buses), Longview ISD (TX - ten (10) buses), San Marcos CISD (TX - six (6) buses), Santa Maria ISD (TX - three (3) buses) as subawards will use EPA funding in the amount of $19,355,000 to replace forty-nine (49) of the ninety-one (91) existing, diesel with forty-nine (49) clean, zero emission school buses.

Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables include: replacing ninety-one (91) diesel school bus vehicles for eleven (11) school districts (Cache Public Schools (OK), Canutillo ISD (TX), Del Valle ISD (TX), Longview ISD (TX), San Marcos CISD (TX), Santa Maria ISD (TX), Warren Easton Charter School (LA), Wilson Charter School (LA), Pierre A. Capdau Charter School (LA), Eleanor McMain Secondary School (LA), McDonogh 35 Senior High School (LA)),

create ongoing training and supplemental materials on how to properly operate and maintain the zero emission buses and chargers for drivers, mechanics and public safety officials,

engage with local partners to educate the community on the benefits of zero emission buses,

deploy air quality sensors at each school district's depot and incorporate lesson plans to engage students and teachers on the benefits of zero emission buses.

The expected outcomes include deployed, new electric school buses, reduced emissions, fuel savings, improvement in air quality, maintenance and operational preparation implemented which includes training of existing staff to ensure employees retain positions, gain skills and join the clean energy economy,

increased public awareness results from educating the community about zero emission buses,

increased air quality monitoring and provide lesson plans to engage students and teachers to allow them to learn about the zero emission project.

The intended beneficiaries include bus drivers, mechanics, community members, students, teachers, parents and local community residents.
