Grant Description
Description: This agreement provides funding under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to Lawton Independent School District (ISD).

This agreement is to replace existing school buses with clean and zero emission (ZE) school buses.

Activities: The activities include replacing 23 Type C diesel school buses with 23 Type C battery-powered electric (BEV) school buses.

To support this deployment, the grantees are requesting one electric vehicle supply unit (EVSE), charging station, per vehicle for a total of 23 Level 3 (DCFC) chargers.

The new school buses will serve the city of Lawton, Oklahoma, as well as throughout Comanche County.

Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.

Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables include:
- Replace 23 existing diesel school buses with ZE, all-electric buses.
- Training provided to Lawton Department of Transportation staff and stakeholders within the community.
- Total of 23 battery-electric school buses, and 23 electric vehicle supply equipment ('EVSE') or charging stations, to be added to the district fleet.

The expected outcomes include:
- Annual emissions reductions: Total of 2,955 tons of greenhouse gas emissions eliminated.
- Lifetime emissions reductions: A total of 35,454 tons of greenhouse gas emissions to be eliminated.
- Increase in trained mechanics, drivers, district staff, local first responders, able to service and operate on electric buses and charging equipment.
- Raise awareness and increase comprehension of zero-emission vehicles within the district and local stakeholders. Promote benefits of clean technologies to neighboring districts to help bring more electric school bus deployments within Comanche County.
- Near-term energy cost and maintenance savings from electric buses compared to frequent expenses from internal combustion engine vehicles.

The intended beneficiaries include the local community of Lawton, Oklahoma including the children, residents, and school districts.
