Cooperative Agreement
Overview
Grant Description
Description:
This agreement provides funding to the Wewoka Public Works Authority (PWA) to implement its project to abandon the existing water treatment plant (WTP) and construct a new high rate solids contact clarification/filtration water treatment plant on land adjacent to the existing WTP.
The integral components to be funded by this agreement include:
- Site work
- Trench safety systems
- Concrete paving
- Yard piping
- Raw water booster pump station
- Raw water flow measurement and static mizer
- Chlorine injection building and equipment
- Backwash holding ponds
- Backwash decant lift station
- Standby power system
- Treatment plant electrical
- Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system
These project components that are to be constructed under this agreement will not in themselves resolve the above water quality issues. The components are an integral and necessary part of the construction of a complete new water treatment plant that will, as a whole, resolve the water quality issues by abandoning the existing old, inadequate WTP and constructing the new proposed high rate solids contact clarification treatment plant. Completion of the whole comprehensive project will bring the system into compliance with required safe drinking water regulatory standards and will also alleviate additional costly fines for non-compliance.
This agreement will implement this project as directed in the 2022 Consolidated Appropriations Act.
