Purpose: The purpose of this grant is to implement the Alaska Digital Equity Plan developed pursuant to the State Digital Equity Planning Grant Program.

Activities to be performed: Activities include development of affordability strategies that are inclusive of every Alaskan that is a member of a covered population, launching statewide digital literacy programs with in-person programming, creating a device refurbishment, distribution, and maintenance program, and strengthening participating institutions by providing pathways to increase broadband access at public entities such as community anchor institutions.

Expected outcomes: The proposed award will use Capacity Grant Program funding to realize its vision for digital equity and to implement activities and strategies identified in the State Digital Equity Plan.

The proposed projects will result in better access to devices, improved digital skills and safety, and improved use of essential life activities such as online banking and telehealth services.

Intended beneficiaries: Residents of the State of Alaska and principally unserved and underserved covered populations statewide.

Subrecipient activities: The recipient does plan to subaward funds. The purpose is for implementing the DE Plan activities.

THE STATE DIGITAL EQUITY CAPACITY GRANT PROGRAM NOFO ALSO ESTABLISHES A COMPETITIVE PROGRAM TO MAKE BOTH STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLANNING GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS AND STATE DIGITAL EQUITY CAPACITY GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS AVAILABLE TO NATIVE ENTITIES TO CARRY OUT DIGITAL EQUITY AND INCLUSION ACTIVITIES CONSISTENT WITH THE DIGITAL EQUITY ACT.
