Grant Description
Purpose: The purpose of this grant is to implement the Alabama Digital Equity Plan developed pursuant to the State Digital Equity Planning Grant Program.
Activities to be performed: The proposed activities include enabling digital skills development through training courses, supporting digital workforce development, expanding opportunities to learn online safety and privacy, expanding access to computing devices with technical support and affordable broadband service, and expanding online accessibility of government services.
Expected outcomes: The proposed award will use Capacity Grant Program funding to realize its vision for digital equity and to implement activities and strategies identified in the State Digital Equity Plan.
The proposed projects will result in better access to devices, improved digital skills and safety, and increased access to online government services.
Intended beneficiaries: Residents of the State of Alabama and principally unserved and underserved covered populations statewide.
Subrecipient activities: The recipient does plan to subaward funds. The purpose is for implementing the DE Plan activities.

TO PROVIDE FUNDS TO STATES AND U.S. TERRITORIES TO IMPLEMENT THE STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLANS DEVELOPED PURSUANT TO THE STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLANNING GRANT PROGRAM. THE STATE DIGITAL EQUITY CAPACITY GRANT PROGRAM NOFO ALSO ESTABLISHES A COMPETITIVE PROGRAM TO MAKE BOTH STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLANNING GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS AND STATE DIGITAL EQUITY CAPACITY GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS AVAILABLE TO NATIVE ENTITIES TO CARRY OUT DIGITAL EQUITY AND INCLUSION ACTIVITIES CONSISTENT WITH THE DIGITAL EQUITY ACT.
