Grant Description
Description: The agreement provides funding under the Inflation Reduction Act to Milwaukee Public Schools to replace in-use, non-zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles with new zero-emission vehicles to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in EPA Region 5.
The recipient will replace 50 eligible vehicles with comparable, eligible zero-emission vehicles under the School Bus Sub-Program, resulting in cleaner air and improved health for the communities in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Activities: The activities include replacing 50 eligible internal combustion engine Class 7 vehicles with 50 eligible zero-emission vehicles; purchasing, installing, operating, and maintaining charging equipment to maintain the new zero-emission vehicles; engaging and educating the community on zero-emission vehicles; and providing workforce development and training to support the maintenance, charging, and operation of the new zero-emission vehicles.
Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables include replacing 50 eligible internal combustion engine Class 7 vehicles with 50 eligible zero-emission vehicles, providing maintenance and operational preparation to staff, drivers, electricians, public safety officials, and mechanics; and engaging and educating the community on zero-emission vehicles.
The expected outcomes include reduced emissions, reduced fuel consumption, improved air quality, reduced student absenteeism, reduced bus idling, reduced maintenance costs, and increased public awareness of zero-emission vehicles.
The intended beneficiaries include students, staff, and members in the disadvantaged community who will benefit from improved ambient air quality in areas in which the vehicles operate.
