Overview
Grant Description
Description: This agreement provides funding to City of Waukegan, IL to implement its water works improvement project as directed in the 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act or as identified in an approved technical correction if one has been approved for this project.
Activities: The activities to be performed include the execution and implementation of a drinking water infrastructure construction project.
Workplan activities consist of water treatment plant improvements.
Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables include the replacement of the existing programmable logic controllers (PLCs) with the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix series, as well as replace the existing legacy remote I/O (RIO) PLC network communications with Ethernet.
Additional deliverables include replacing the 4,160-volt switchgear and 480-volt motor control centers (MCC) equipment located in the high service pump room.
The expected outcomes include improved functionality and reliability for the city's water filtration plant (WFP).
The SCADA/PLC and MCC systems are outdated and beyond their serviceable life or are altogether obsolete.
These upgrades are critical for the continued operation and reliability for the WFP.
The intended beneficiaries include the residents of the City of Waukegan.
