Grant Description
Description: The purpose of this award is to provide funding under the Inflation Reduction Act to the St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin.

The recipient will implement greenhouse gas reduction programs, policies, projects, and measures identified in a priority climate action plan developed under a Climate Pollution Reduction Grants planning grant.

Activities conducted through this grant will benefit all residents and visitors to St. Croix tribal lands through four main objectives:

Implementation of ambitious measures that will achieve significant cumulative greenhouse gas reductions by 2030 and beyond;

Pursuit of measures that will achieve substantial community benefits, particularly in low-income and disadvantaged communities;

Complementing other funding sources to maximize these GHG reductions and community benefits; and,

Pursuit of innovative policies and programs that are replicable and can be 'scaled up' across multiple jurisdictions.

Activities: The activities include energy efficiency home improvements, solar feasibility study and deployment of 1MW of solar, and workforce development through a scholarship program.

Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.

Outcomes: The anticipated outputs include community outreach on energy efficiency opportunities, the creation of the Sustainability Action Fund, and the hiring of a full-time energy coordinator.

The expected outcomes include 1MW contribution of renewable energy produced by the Tribe, the establishment of processes for project management, and reduced residential energy bills.

The intended beneficiaries include St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin residents and tribal members.
