Grant Description
Description: The agreement provides funding to Southwest Detroit Environmental Vision.

Specifically, the recipient will replace one legacy-diesel powered marine tugboat with a Tier 3 diesel marine engine operating on the Detroit River and 57 legacy diesel-powered vehicles operating on-road with new diesel trucks meeting U.S. EPA emission standards.

Activities: The activities include retiring and replacing 58 diesel engines with newer diesel engines, issuing press releases at project start as major milestones are met, maintaining a current and potential fleet partner database and communicating additional fleet and other decarbonization resources, issuing pre and post project surveys to project partners and community members.

Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.

Outcomes: The expected outcomes include individuals in the community and beyond (including the fleet sector) having knowledge about diesel emissions as an environmental and public health concern, cultivation of future project partners, stakeholders, community leaders, and city officials recognizing improvements in relevant health conditions that may be attributable to reduced exposure to diesel emissions.

The anticipated deliverables include replacing 57 pre and post 2007 on-road diesel vehicles with new diesel and propane-powered vehicles and one marine vessel tugboat with a new diesel marine tug vessel powered by biodiesel.
