Overview
Grant Description
Description: The agreement provides funding to Environmental Initiative.
Specifically, the recipient will reduce emissions of diesel particulate matter, nitrogen oxides and exposure to diesel air toxics in and around Chicago, Illinois.
Activities: The activities include replacing 16 on-highway Class 8 short haul delivery trucks with 16 battery electric on-highway Class 8 delivery trucks.
The new electric trucks will operate out of Martin Brower's McCook, IL distribution center and will meet the applicable emission standards and are of a similar type and gross vehicle weight rating as the vehicles being replaced.
Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables include battery electric Class 8 on-highway, short-haul delivery trucks along with 4 electric mega chargers.
The expected outcomes include emissions and exposure reductions along freight transportation corridors which traverse some of the most overburdened communities in the greater Chicagoland area.
In addition to the fine particulate matter and nitrogen oxide reductions, this proposed project will also result in the annual reduction of 1.424 tons of carbon monoxide and lifetime reduction of 9.583 tons.
The intended beneficiaries include the residents in and around Chicago, Illinois.
