Grant Description
Description:
This agreement provides funding under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to restore America's Estuaries (RAE) to develop and implement a basin-wide Great Lakes Environmental Justice Grant Program (GLEJGP) with the support of a coalition.
Activities:
The resulting GLEJGP will be advised by a working group of Great Lakes-area organizational partners, through which RAE will provide guidance to subawardees on grant writing, project design, budgeting, and federal grant applications. RAE will also administer a living technical support curriculum to support the subawardees of four project RFA cycles.
Subrecipient:
Subawards will be made through a competitive RFA process implemented by Restore America's Estuaries and recipients are not yet known. Activities to be implemented may include habitat restoration; invasive species removal or treatment; stormwater runoff and green infrastructure; and/or Great Lakes education projects.
Outcomes:
Anticipated outcomes include increased regional organization capacity to access and manage federal funding, as well as reduced environmental burdens for beneficiaries in underserved communities in the Great Lakes Basin through the implementation of subaward projects that further Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Action Plan goals.
