Project Grant

Overview

Grant Description
This project supports the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) and the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, pursuant to Clean Water Act, Section 118(c)(7), as amended by Public Law 114-322, to protect and restore the chemical, physical, and biological integrity of the Great Lakes Basin ecosystem.

The Great Lakes Fish Monitoring and Surveillance Program (GLFMSP) monitors concentrations of organic contaminants in Great Lakes whole fish. Specifically, this project will measure the concentrations of persistent, bioaccumulative toxic contaminants in Great Lakes lake trout (walleye at one site in Lake Erie's western basin) at two fixed sites in each of the Great Lakes and generate temporal trends of contaminant concentrations in fish.

Note that the header of this award captions it as a grant agreement, whereas, it is a cooperative agreement. EPA is implementing a new grant system that will soon be undergoing enhancements to allow for more accurate descriptions.
