Grant Description
Description: This agreement provides funding to the Boothbay Region Water District to implement its project for drinking water infrastructure improvements as directed in the 2024 Consolidated Appropriations Act.

Activities: The activities to be performed include the execution and implementation of a drinking water infrastructure construction project.

Workplan activities consist of drinking water distribution system upgrades.

Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.

Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables include:

1. Approximately 8,500 linear feet of new buried year-round water main along Hendricks Hill Road in Southport, Maine.

2. Approximately 8 new fire hydrants along Hendricks Hill Road.

3. Approximately 50 customers connected to the new year-round water main.

4. Setup 7 side streets for eventual year-round water that could serve as many as 100 additional customers with year-round high quality reliable water.

The expected outcomes include:

1. The protection of public health by providing year-round potable water to the region allowing the abandonment of less reliable, lower quality, and contaminated water supplies.

2. The project will provide a climate resilient water supply to the region in preparation for increased salt water intrusion into private wells from predicted sea level rise.

3. The protection of public safety by the addition of fire hydrants in the region that are not currently possible.

The intended beneficiaries include ratepayers in the Boothbay Region Water District and residents of the Town of Southport, ME.
