Description:
This agreement provides funding under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to DATTCO, Inc. This agreement is to replace existing school buses with clean and zero emission (ZE) school buses.
Activities:
The activities include replacing 85 diesel internal combustion engine school buses with zero-emissions (electric) school buses and AC Level 2 and DC fast charging infrastructure. The new school buses will serve five school districts in Massachusetts and Connecticut: Fall River Public Schools (10 buses), New Bedford Public Schools (10 buses), Worcester Public Schools (15 buses), Hartford Public Schools (25 buses), and Connecticut Technical Education and Career Systems (25 buses).
Subrecipient:
No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes:
The anticipated deliverables include the deployment of 85 electric school buses in five school districts, scrappage/selling/donation of 85 internal combustion engine buses, utility upgrades and installation of charging infrastructure, trainings provided to bus drivers and technicians, quarterly surveys to districts and community members, and community engagement events. The expected outcomes include reduced annual fuel consumption, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, reduced contributions to air pollution including nitrogen oxides (NOX) and fine particulates (PM2.5), capacity-building of workforce, proven viability of large-scale deployment of electric school buses, increased engagement/understanding among community members. The intended beneficiaries include DATTCO, Inc., five school districts and surrounding communities (Connecticut Technical Education and Career System, Hartford Public Schools, Fall River Public Schools, New Bedford Public Schools, and Worcester Public Schools).
