Activities: Specifically, the improvement project will address rehabilitation of impervious surface area, addition of concrete laydown areas, construction of a new shelter over compactors and roll off containers, and purchase of new equipment including: two roll off containers, two open top containers and one four-yard dumpster.
Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes: The Town of Poland will have an upgraded transfer station that has physical measures to contain solid waste and prevent it from contaminating surrounding areas, allow for safer and more effective management of MSW collection and disposal, and improve safety for residents.
The expectation is increased use of the transfer station by residents and increased materials collected.
The goal of the project is to increase recycling and better manage solid waste in the Town of Poland.
The addition of a larger and more robust compactor for recycling will allow for more effective and efficient recycling operations.
Improvements in sheltering MSW collection operations and strengthening laydown areas with a concrete pad will prevent contamination of the surrounding area and make cleanup of any spillage more manageable and effective.
The beneficiaries of the project are the residents of the Town of Poland, Maine.
