Description:
This agreement funds the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation's program to conduct a remedial action and long-term response action at the Commerce Street Plume Hazardous Waste Site, which is listed on the National Priorities List of the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Contingency Plan.
Activities:
1.) DEC will act as the lead party in the implementation of the remedial action at the Commerce Street Plume NPL site. This remedial action was selected in the September 2015 Record of Decision and modified as documented in the 2022 Explanation of Significant Differences.
2.) Assessment of archaeologically sensitive areas prior to disturbance and documentation of any significant sites.
3.) Installation of injection wells and biobarrier trenches for in situ bioremediation.
4.) Injection of amendments to enhance bioremediation.
5.) Groundwater monitoring to assess performance of the remedy.
Subrecipient:
No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes:
The outcome of this cooperative agreement is the treatment of contaminated groundwater in order to protect human health and restore the groundwater resource to high-quality drinking water. The intended beneficiaries of this project are residents of Williston, Vermont.
